My flights took me over much of the same route I had travelled in my RV last September. I continue to be in awe at the speed of flying. I had spent 3 weeks last autumn, driving my RV from Halifax,NS to Calgary, AB. The airtime going in the opposite direction was less than 7 hrs! The comparison isn't accurate since flying is more direct (3762 km) than driving (4836 km) and I had several stopovers while driving that route. It still says much about how travel has changed over the past century.
When I arrived in Halifax, I was overcome by emotion, surprised by how good it felt to be " home".
I spent the next month visiting family and friends, depending on rides and public transit to get around. It felt good to see so many familiar faces and places.
Lupins are a common sight in Nova Scotia in late spring
Cape Breton Island, on the north-east side of NS, is a magical place. The 297km highway loops around the island, curving it's way up and down mountains and along the ocean, passing through fishing villages. You can often see lobster traps piled up, an eagle flying overhead, or a moose by the side of the road.
Spring was a perfect time to arrive with flowers beginning to bloom and people out getting their gardens ready for planting.
I arrived at my sister's place right at the beginning of lobster season. Her husband brought home some lobsters for a feast. It brought back memories of my time there last summer.
She was busy getting her campground, "The Jumping Mouse", ready for the season.
We had time to catch up on each other's lives. Since we don't see each other often, I'm always grateful for these opportunities, remembering how precious family is.

I also had time to visit another sister who lives about 20 min south of there.
She was very busy in the garden and taking care of their chickens.
Those chickens were fun to watch and the fresh eggs delicious.
After leaving Cape Breton, I spent time visiting several friends. It always feels good to connect to them and the time passed quickly.
Soon I had to get back to the airport for the flight to Toronto and more visits.
After the serenity of Nova Scotia, the city felt chaotic. I do love cities for interesting things to see but it doesn't take long for me to feel information overload.
Lots of reflecting glass in many
of the buildings in Toronto, a rapidly growing city. Metro Toronto now has a pop of about 6 million, many of them immigrants.
In Toronto and Kitchener, I spent my time with more of my family and friends there. Although the visits were good, I looked forward to returning to my RV life.
I left Toronto on June 21, flying back to Kelowna, BC. It was wonderful to get back into my RV and explore more of BC. A quiet campground was balm to my previous hectic schedule.
